In an effort to drive productivity and innovation, they established an organic nutrients business which has grown significantly over time. To support the team to drive sustainable growth, they now seek the services of a suitably qualified business leader in the role of Organic Nutrients Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Organic Nutrients Manager will lead, grow and develop the company’s composting business.  With responsibility for both operational performance and business development, the successful applicant will lead and manage the production team to ensure production targets are achieved.

In addition, the Manager will develop and maintain profitable markets for the compost, lead business development, and play a crucial role in advancing the company’s sustainability objectives in waste management.

The role:

  • Work with the General Manager to develop the annual budget and forecasts for the organic nutrients business;
  • Lead, nurture and develop team members and create a team environment of cooperation and performance;
  • Develop and implement operational plans to optimise composting processes and maximise production efficiency;
  • Review and develop forecasts to assist with planning of production and dispatch of the compost to ensure optimal inventory levels;
  • Lead efforts to increase revenue through strategic initiatives, market expansion, pricing optimisation, and product/service development;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, regulators and clients to ensure high quality products and sustainable practices within the business unit;
  • Monitor composting operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental requirements and industry best practices;
  • Implement and maintain environmental management systems to minimise the environmental impact of composting activities.

The Person:

  • Proven experience in composting or fertilizer operations management, with a demonstrated track record of success in an operational leadership role;
  • Strong knowledge of composting principles, techniques, and equipment an advantage;
  • Strong networks in agribusiness;
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes related to composting operations;
  • Demonstrated high-level communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills including negotiation and dispute resolution skills;
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrated time management, attention to detail and self-motivation and professional skills commensurate with the role;
  • Ability to use a range of computer applications;
  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
